Movies Coming Out For Kids and Families - April of 2011

There are a few movies coming out for kids and families in April, 2011, a couple of which are films about nature and animals, others are animated movies that appear to be worth more than a chuckle or two.  =)

Here they are:

Weekend of April 1st, 2011 - Hop – Appropriately dated for the month of April, this movie’s theme has to do with the Easter Bunny.  It has to do with the Easter Bunny getting hit by a car, then the driver of that car must do something to save Easter for the kids.  The rating for this movie is PG (for some mild rude humor).

Weekend of April 8th, 2011 - Born to Be Wild –This movie has to do with elephants and orangutans  in Africa and Borneo that have been orphaned, and the people that work to help them.   It stars Morgan Freeman (I believe as a narrator), and looks like an excellent film for families to view together and is an IMAX presentation which will make it just that much more enjoyable.  This movie is rated G.

Weekend of April 15th, 2011 - Rio – This is an animated comedy film about a mascaw whos normal home is in a birdcage, breaks away and goes on the adventure of his life.  This film comes from the same people who created the “Ice Age” movies, and looks to be quite entertaining.   Rated PG.

Weekend of April 22nd, 2011 - African Cats – Of all the children’s movies coming out in April this year, this one looks like it will be my personal favorite.   Created by Disney, it is a true story about two families of wild cats (lions and cheetahs) in Africa survive and raise their cubs.  The footage for this film looks stunning – looks to be an excellent family film.    It is Rated G.

Weekend of April 29th, 2011 - Hoodwinked Too!  Hood vs. Evil – This animated film is about a little bit of a different Red Riding Hood than we are used to.  She has trained with a group called “Sisters of the Hood” and works together with the “big bad wolf” to investigate the disappearance of Hansel and Gretel.  From the looks of this movie, it seems that it is quite entertaining and worth some good laughs.  It is rated PG.

All in all, there look to be some excellent choices for movies coming on weekends in April, 2011 for kids – especially for those who enjoy funny animated films or heartwarming stories about nature and animals.
