Movies Coming Out For Kids and Families - April of 2011

There are a few movies coming out for kids and families in April, 2011, a couple of which are films about nature and animals, others are animated movies that appear to be worth more than a chuckle or two.  =)

Here they are:

Weekend of April 1st, 2011 - Hop – Appropriately dated for the month of April, this movie’s theme has to do with the Easter Bunny.  It has to do with the Easter Bunny getting hit by a car, then the driver of that car must do something to save Easter for the kids.  The rating for this movie is PG (for some mild rude humor).

Here is a trailer for the movie:

Weekend of April 8th, 2011 - Born to Be Wild –This movie has to do with elephants and orangutans  in Africa and Borneo that have been orphaned, and the people that work to help them.   It stars Morgan Freeman (I believe as a narrator), and looks like an excellent film for families to view together and is an IMAX presentation which will make it just that much more enjoyable.  This movie is rated G.

Here is a trailer for the movie:

Weekend of April 15th, 2011 - Rio – This is an animated comedy film about a mascaw whos normal home is in a birdcage, breaks away and goes on the adventure of his life.  This film comes from the same people who created the “Ice Age” movies, and looks to be quite entertaining.   Rated PG.

Here is a trailer for the movie:

Weekend of April 22nd, 2011 - African Cats – Of all the children’s movies coming out in April this year, this one looks like it will be my personal favorite.   Created by Disney, it is a true story about two families of wild cats (lions and cheetahs) in Africa survive and raise their cubs.  The footage for this film looks stunning – looks to be an excellent family film.    It is Rated G.

Here is a trailer for the movie:

Weekend of April 29th, 2011 - Hoodwinked Too!  Hood vs. Evil – This animated film is about a little bit of a different Red Riding Hood than we are used to.  She has trained with a group called “Sisters of the Hood” and works together with the “big bad wolf” to investigate the disappearance of Hansel and Gretel.  From the looks of this movie, it seems that it is quite entertaining and worth some good laughs.  It is rated PG.

All in all, there look to be some excellent choices for movies coming on weekends in April, 2011 for kids – especially for those who enjoy funny animated films or heartwarming stories about nature and animals.

Movies Coming Out in Denver, CO March, 2011

Among the list of movies coming out in Denver, CO March 2011, there are certainly some choices that got my attention and brought me to mark some dates on the calendar. No matter if someone is in need of a good chuckle, would like to get caught up in suspense - or simply to see a classic story, there appear to be choices in March that are worth checking out.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules - Have you ever been terribly embarrassed from self-created blunders or otherwise massively humiliating circumstances? Well, it's time to feel better - the central character of this movie (Greg) experiences moments that go beyond anything I would have ever dreamed of, and puts my own life's embarrassing moments to shame. This movie follows the story line of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" that has become quite popular among older kids and "tweens," and appears to be one of the most amusing films of the year. Definitely worth a trip to the theater, whether you are a youngster or an adult.  (Coming March 25th, 2011) Find local theaters for this movie

Rango - Starring Johnny Depp (playing the voice of an animated gecko) who brags a bit too much and finds himself having to live up to his stories. This looks like a good theater pick as well, if someone is up for a good laugh or is a Johnny Depp fan.  (Coming March 4th, 2011)  Find local theaters for this movie

The Adjustment Bureau - Starring Matt Damon, this film appears to have an interesting and unique plot twist: The Adjustment Bureau is a special group of individuals (but not really "people") who put things back in place when someone strays from some sort of "grand plan." Take this idea and apply it to a man who is about to win a senatorial election and it looks like we have a movie that will hold movie-goers' interests.  (Coming March 4th, 2011)  Find local theaters for this movie

Apollo 18 - This movie also has an interesting plot, and simply from the storyline it is quite promising: Missing footage from a trip to the moon reveals factual evidence of
extraterrestrial life. The available information on this movie at this point is rather limited, but for those who enjoy movies with an "alien" theme or a good Sci-Fi movie it looks like this will be a good pick.  (Coming March 4th, 2011) Find local theaters for this movie

Mars Needs Moms - This animated movie appears to be ramping up for some large crowds - it is going to be available in 3D and IMAX 3D as well as regular theater viewing. The story is basically about beings living on Mars that are in serious need of mothers due to their unruly behavior. One of my favorite actresses will be playing the role of a mother (Joan Cusack) and the lead role is played by Seth Green.  (Coming March 11th, 2011)  Find local theaters for this movie

Jane Eyre - Starring Mia Wasikowska, this Romantic Drama is based on the Classic novel of the same name. While I personally am more of a fan of "laugh till your tummy hurts" type of movies, this story sparks an interest simply because it appears to be very real and thoughtful in nature, basically about a woman who works as a governess for a wealthy man.  (Coming March 11th, 2011)  Find local theaters for this movie

The Lincoln Lawyer - Starring Matthew McConaughey, this movie looks like it will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The central theme is based on a lawyer who works from the back of his Lincoln Town Car while representing an important client in Beverly Hills. It seems from the trailer that there are some twists and turns in the plot such as the lawyer questioning the validity of his client's story and in general appears to be quite a suspenseful and interesting movie.  (Coming March 18th, 2011)  Find local theaters for this movie

For anyone who is searching for movies coming out in Denver, CO in March 2011, the list above will likely point you to at least one film that will be worth a trip to the theater.

Movies Coming Out in Denver, CO - February 2011 Picks

There are quite a number of movies coming out in Denver, CO February 2011, some of them appear to be more promising than others.  It seems that there are some good choices for just about anyone of any age this month, ranging from Romantic Comedies to some Horror flicks that would bring someone’s hair up on the back of their neck just thinking about the story.

Below are some picks of movies for February of 2011:

The Roommate (Release date Friday, February 4th):  The Roommate is a Thriller starring Leighton Meester as a rather unstable girl going to college who becomes obsessed with her roommate.  Apparently the story line is comparable to Single White Female which came out (to the best of my memory) about 10 years ago.

Justin Beaber: Never Say Never 3D (Release date Friday, February 11th):  One might guess at what this movie is all about simply from its name.  Justin Beaber rose to the level of stardom from his beginnings as a street performer.  From what I have seen of Mr. Beaber in the movie trailer and from other resources, he is a charming and unpretentious young man who is sending out a message in this film – Never give up on your dream.  (A worthwhile message!)  My guess is that this movie will sell out pretty quickly once it is released so it may be a good idea to purchase tickets ahead of time online.  Rating:  G.  Find local Denver theaters for this movie.

Gnomeo and Juliet (Release date Friday, February 11th):  This is a cute and animated rendition of the “Romeo and Juliet” story, with the characters as garden gnomes.  A rather amusing concept in itself, and the movie seems to be rather amusing as well based on what I viewed in the trailer.  This movie is Rated G, is showing in 3D and would be a good choice for children to see.  Find this movie in local Denver theaters

Just Go With It (Release date Friday, February 11th):  Just about all that I need to know about this movie is who is starring in it – Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.  Being a fan of both of these actors this would definitely be a movie I would personally go to – it is a romantic comedy with the central theme being based around a “fib” that is told by the character Adam Sandler plays, which gets blown up and a bit out of control.  This movie is Rated PG-13.  Find this movie in local Denver theaters

Poetry (Release date Friday, February 11th):  This movie – while it may not be a huge box office hit in the US – is nevertheless probably my favorite on the list of movies coming out in February, 2010.  The story is about a woman who is nearing the end of her life, and takes some steps to make her life more meaningful.  Based on what I have seen of this movie and read about it, it is one of the more thought provoking and touching movies to be released so far this year.  Poetry is a foreign film with American English sub-titles - NR rating.  Find this movie in local Denver theaters

Drive Angry 3D (Release date Friday, February 25th):  This movie stars Nicolas Cage and looks like it stands out among the rest for Action Thriller movies this month.  The story is based on a man (Mr. Cage) who actually rises from hell to handle a wrong that has been done to his daughter.  If you are looking for a good (but graphic) Thriller this month, this one might be a good choice.  Rating - R.  Find this movie in local Denver theaters

While there are quite a few other movies coming out in February 2011, the above list contains the films that caught my attention as some of the potentially most popular or quality films for the month.
